HISTORY
Apparently, Miles just sort of tagged along with Britan when they came aboard the ship. He doesn't seem to concerned as to whether they stay there for good or go back, though sometimes when he gets scared or annoyed or worried over something, he often wants to go home. (wherever that may be)
Miles is lazy, as most boys his age are. To those who don't know him well, he often appears mature and thoughtful for his age, but this isn't the case. He doesn't get all that excited over things, and he tends to think that everyone else is an overemotional idiot. That little bit of egotism is generally what keeps him acting childish most of the time. This also leads him to being a little bossy, thus causing tension with other members of the crew (Britan).
No matter how high-and-mighty he acts, he's still just a kid who is very far from home. He IS pretty level-headed most of the time, and rarely gets worried or confused in high-tense situations. Despite that, he's a tad neurotic, and often gets VERY worked up over little things. He, of course, denies that he ever gets upset or worried, no matter how much the others tease him.

NAME
Miles: (my-uls) A 'road name' - named for something I saw on the road, in this case, a "Jackson - 44 miles" sign (or some mileage like that). Not exactly an unusual name. It can mean "soldier" or "merciful."

Bedford: (bed-ford) Another basketball player, from the same team and time as Baskerville Holmes. My mother and aunt had their pictures taken with Baskerville and Bedford, and it was those 2 I heard the most about while growing up.

Ashtaroth: (ash-tah-roth) According to my original notes, Ashtaroth was the Phoenician goddess of the moon, also known as Astoreth, Astarte, and Ashtoreth, and the Babylonian equivalent of Ishtar. I did more research and found this: "Also [known as] Astaroth. The male, medieval incarnation of Ashtoreth. A demon, he was said to appear in the guise of an horrendous angel, riding on a dragon and holding a viper in his left hand, and having revolting foul-smelling breath. Some, however, say that his appearance was that of a handsome human male, half-black, half-white. He is described by Jean Wier as a very powerful grand duke in Hell, where he held the office of great treasurer and commanded forty infernal legions."

NOTES
Poor Miles. Not only did he get stuck having to deal with Piper, but he's also the most neglected of the original four (Madison, Britan, Ocha, Miles). He was a throw-away character at the beginning, and slowly gained importance... but still his design was quick and not thoughtout. I was never happy with his design, but he's improved over the years. Particularly with Issue 2. His outfits are easy to design, kinda modern day punk-ish, kinda not. Just normal sort of stuff, really. My favourite thing about doing Miles' clothes are coming up with logos and slogan for them... like ORK.
The Piper and Miles thing just appeared somewhere between Issue 4 and 5. It wasn't planned, but I like it. Does Miles like Piper? Probably not, I think he'd just like to stuff her in the closet and leave her there.

MISC
  • The ponytail in the back NEVER comes down.
  • He's the shortest... poor dear, hasn't gotten his growth spurt yet.
  • Very good at picking pockets, but don't let Ocha know.
  • Oddly enough, knows an awful lot about explosives.

  • Thanks to Maria for colouring the Miles profile pic!!
